Popular area attractions include the Milwaukee County Zoo, Milwaukee Art Museum, a ballet company, the symphony, and internationally acclaimed and local live theater productions. The city also celebrates its cultural diversity with various ethnic festivals each summer and hosts the world’s largest music festival—Summerfest. Discover more about things to do in Milwaukee.

If indoor recreation is more your style, you can go ice skating at the Petit National Ice Center (a U.S. Olympic training facility), bowling at one of the many local alleys or work out at Mount Mary’s on-campus fitness center.

“I love the campus. You feel secluded yet you are so close to downtown Milwaukee.”

Opportunities for Jobs & Internships

The efforts of many Milwaukee-based nonprofits have earned the city a reputation as the “biggest small town in America.” Mount Mary students work with many of these organizations through service learning opportunities in and out of class.

The largest employers in the area include Briggs & Stratton, GE Healthcare Technologies, Harley-Davidson Motor Co., Kohl’s Corporation, Northwestern Mutual, Quad/Graphics, Rockwell Automation and several healthcare companies and hospital systems. Many of these companies offer internship opportunities, too.
