Registration open for Summer Leadership Academy

June 2020 Academy offers leadership, college and career sessions for high school girls

Over 65 high school girls from across the U.S. will come together for a residential college-prep, career exploration and leadership program on the Mount Mary University campus June 22-25, 2020.

Participants will experience panels, lectures and interactive workshops on a variety of different leadership and professional growth topics, such as building confidence, finding your authentic self, and racism and leadership.

Registration is now open. Young women currently in their freshman, sophomore, or junior years of high school at the time of application are eligible.

"Mount Mary excels in developing confident women. The sooner we are able to reach them, the more successful we believe they will be in life," said Leadership Institute Director Anne Kahl. "We are so excited to offer this opportunity for high school students to learn and walk away more confident and more educated for their future careers."

The residential nature of the program creates an intensive learning experience that cannot be replicated with a series of one-day programs. This experience encourages friendship and camaraderie, building mentoring relationships and extends the learning experience beyond the formal program sessions, as conversations continue over meals and throughout the evening.

The cost to attend is $150 per student. This fee includes all meals, lodging, activities and program materials. The Summer Leadership Academy is supported by grants from private foundations, corporate sponsors and individuals that cover some costs for this program. Financial need scholarships are available.

Sponsors include Potawatomi Hotel and Bingo’s Heart of Canal Street, Johnson Controls, Brewers Community Foundation, GMAR Realtors’ Youth Foundation, Virginia Cornyn ’62 and Nancy Cheski ’65.
