Widowed mother of 9 to tell her story of triumph

"Being a student at Mount Mary, I discovered my capability to be successful when all odds were stacked against me."

Bridgett Wilder '18,
dietetics major, psychology minor

Bridgett Wilder, graduating Saturday with a major in Dietetics and a minor in Psychology, will share her experience of perseverance at Mount Mary's commencement ceremony.

Commencement will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19 in the Bloechl Center.

Wilder is among the 256 students graduating from the University this spring. She said Mount Mary gave her the ability to redefine her life after the death of a 6-year-old daughter and her husband.

"People underestimate the value of a storm," she said. "It's leading us somewhere."

Bridgett's primary goals are to use her degree to help others avoid sicknesses and diseases by way of teaching them about nutrition and healthy food choices. She has already started her own health and wellness consulting business, named "Perseverance." She has a book deal on the horizon, adding yet another dimension to her life.

Commencement will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Bloechl Center.
