CREO 2014

University Presents CREO, the Annual Fashion, Art & Design Show, May 9, at the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee.

MILWAUKEE (April 30, 2014) - On Friday, May 9, fashion, art and creativity take center stage during CREO, Mount Mary University's acclaimed event that highlights outstanding student work from its fashion, fine arts, graphic design, art therapy and interior design programs. The one-day celebration of talent features a student designer fashion show and juried art and design honors exhibit.

The fashion show is a professional New York-style production with the energy and excitement of more than 125 never-before-seen, student-designed individual garments and collections. This year's live runway show is themed "PULSE," inspired by the melodic movements of needle and thread.

The public is invited to purchase tickets for the 1:30, 5:30, and 8:00 p.m. fashion shows that take place at the Harley-Davidson Museum in the Garage, 400 W. Canal St., Milwaukee. Tickets are $18 for the matinee, $25-$35 for the early evening show, and $35-$45 for the evening finale that includes a post-show reception. Tickets are $10 for chaperoned middle and high school student groups. Fashion show tickets may be purchased at http://creo2014.bpt.me/.

CREO also features a juried Honors Show exhibit of more than 60 spectacular pieces from the University's School of Arts and Design, including drawings, paintings, graphic designs and three-dimensional works by students in art and graphic design, art therapy, fashion illustration and interior design.

In addition, CREO includes "SustainTABLE CHAIRity," a showcase and silent auction of transformed and up-cycled furniture pieces created by interior design students. Proceeds from the auction support the students' ongoing community service initiatives.

The free exhibit and auction are open from noon to 10:00 p.m. in the Harley-Davidson Museum's Rumble Room.

The CREO fashion show incorporates numerous "real-world" elements, including an independent jury of fashion design professionals who review and select pieces to receive special recognition and awards during the event. In addition, a team of students from the Fashion Show Coordination class serve as the show's production team. They recruit students as models, dressers, ushers and stage crew members, and support publicity with social media promotion. Event planning professionals handle the stage design, music, lighting, choreography and video.
