President Announces Changes to Leadership Team

New roles support Creative Campus Initiative

schwalbach-eileen_web.jpgMILWAUKEE (January 21, 2014) – Mount Mary University President Eileen Schwalbach, Ph.D. announced the creation of new positions for several members of her leadership team to align their areas of expertise with the institution’s Creative Campus Initiative. Following extensive research and strategic planning, the Initiative is in its implementation stage and seeks to infuse creative approaches in all areas of curriculum and student experience, and develops measurable outcomes in creative leadership competencies.



Beth Wnuk, formerly Executive Director of the Women’s Leadership Institute,wnuk-beth_web.jpg will assume a new role as Executive Vice President for Administrative Services. Wnuk will continue to lead the Women’s Leadership Institute and will assume additional leadership responsibilities for Development, Alumnae Relations, Communications, Human Resources and Campus Security. Wnuk will implement a shared services model to strengthen collaboration and creative thinking across operational areas. Wnuk joined Mount Mary in 2012 and previously served as Regional President – Wisconsin for PNC Financial Services Group.



sprangers-lynn_web.jpgLynn Sprangers will assume a new position of Vice President for Community Impact to build relationships and strengthen the university’s partnerships in the community. Sprangers joined Mount Mary in 2011 and previously served as Vice President of Communications and Community Engagement overseeing outreach and communication for the institution’s Centennial in 2013 including the change to University status and launch of its new brand.



gonzalez-reyes_web.jpgReyes Gonzalez has been elevated to Senior Vice President for Finance. Gonzalez will continue to oversee financial operations and several new information technology initiatives for the university. He joined Mount Mary in 2007 and was recognized by the Business Journal as “CFO of The Year” in the Education category in 2011.

 



According to Mount Mary University President, Dr. Schwalbach, the administrative changes to the leadership team align with changes the institution recently implemented in the academic structure to reflect the change to University status and to support the strategic Creative Campus Initiative. Barbara Armstrong was recently hired as Dean of the School of Arts & Design and joined Chioma Ugochukwu, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Social Sciences, Business and Education, and Kathleen Dougherty, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Humanities.

“These new senior leadership positions will better enable Mount Mary to build on its100-year legacy of educating women leaders who make a difference in their workplaces, communities and the world,” said Dr. Schwalbach.  “With these leadership changes, we are deploying a dynamic team to collectively take our Creative Campus Initiative to new levels.”

Mount Mary University’s Creative Campus Initiative is designed to strategically address the need for educating tomorrow’s workforce with creative leadership skills. The result of inter-disciplinary research, exploration and planning across the campus, the Initiative will infuse creative approaches in all areas of curriculum and student experience, including service to the community, as well as the university’s day-to-day operations. The five measurable outcomes defined by the university as the core competencies of the Creative Campus Initiative include agility, experimentation, imagination, open-mindedness and complexity (AEIOC).
