Generous scholarship program expands partnership with four additional Milwaukee community-based organizations

Incoming freshmen have until November 13 to apply for program

Mount Mary University’s Grace Scholars program, which covers 85 percent of tuition annually for up to four years for select Milwaukee students, will offer a guaranteed spot to nine local community-based organizations next fall.

Organizations include:

  • Boys and Girls Club
  • Carmen High School of Science and Technology
  • College Possible
  • Cristo Rey Jesuit High School (new this year)
  • Divine Savior Holy Angels High School (new this year)
  • Milwaukee Academy of Science (new this year)
  • Notre Dame School of Milwaukee Graduate Support Program
  • PEARLS for Teen Girls
  • Saint Joan Antida High School (new this year)

The Grace Scholars program is a unique scholarship opportunity for Milwaukee students who demonstrate good academic performance and financial need. Funded by the Burke Foundation and other donors such as the We Energies Foundation, Ralph Evinrude Foundation and U.S. Bank Foundation, the program covers 85 percent of tuition annually for up to four years.

Each year, 30 students are selected to be part of the program. With the addition of these new community-based organizations, Mount Mary gives more organizations the opportunity to help their women further their education by attending college.

“In support of our ongoing collaboration with local high schools and community-based organizations, we look forward to strengthening our ties with each organization and their students," said Rebecca Surges, director of undergraduate admissions.

“The Grace Scholars program is designed to provide a transformative experience for young women through programming that supports their academic, personal, and professional development,” said Grace Scholars Director Tiffany Tardy.

The application priority deadline for new students for the 2019-20 academic year is Tuesday, November 13. Applicants must be accepted to Mount Mary at least one week prior to the application date. Upon being accepted, applicants will receive an online application to fill out.
