Presidential Search Frequently Asked Questions
Many of our candidates will hold key positions at other institutions and will only submit an application if confidentiality is guaranteed. Members of the Search Committee have signed an agreement that commits to confidentiality for all discussions and deliberations related to the presidential search. For your information, a copy of the confidentiality statement guiding the work of the Presidential Search Committee is available on this website.
The Search Committee Co-Chairs (Veronica Gunn, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees and Marie O’Brien, Chair of the Board of Trustees) will work closely with the search consultant and the Search Committee. The Co-Chairs run the committee meetings and will provide regular updates to keep the Board, the candidates, the Mount Mary community and external constituencies informed about the search’s progress. The Co-Chairs will also address any questions or concerns from members of the community through the duration of the search process.
The confidentiality statement that all members have signed requires that they not share any information discussed during Search Committee meetings and that they not share any information related to candidates, even after the search has closed.
As per the confidentiality statement, the Search Co-Chairs, Veronica Gunn and Marie O’Brien, are the only individuals authorized to speak on behalf of the Search Committee and the search process. For all media-related inquiries, please contact the Veronica Gunn at VGunn@chw.org. For other matters related to the search, you may also contact Marie O’Brien at firstname.lastname@example.org.

An online and confidential nomination form is being developed and will be posted on this website. The nomination form along with the search profile will be available by mid-September. Notice of the availability of the search profile and nomination form on the website will be communicated through the “Daily Announcement” messaging and other campus media. We ask that you carefully review the presidential qualifications and experiences as laid out in the Presidential Search Profile before submitting a nomination. Your nomination will go directly to the search consultant and she will reach out to the nominee. The search consultant will not provide your name to the nominee, but you are free to do so.
Internal candidates are treated in the same way as external candidates. All candidates are assessed based on the criteria laid out in the Presidential Search Profile. The committee very carefully selects the strongest candidates for further consideration based on the presidential search qualifications and experiences. In addition, internal candidates are assured the same degree of confidentiality as external candidates.
You may be aware that the search consultant visited campus on July 14 & 15 and met with a range of campus constituent groups during her visit. She will return to campus on September 12 & 13 for another campus visit. We urge you to respond to requests for participation. Not only will she explain the search process and address any questions you may have about the search, but she is also very keen to gather your insights on the presidency and the institution, particularly as we look to the next chapter in the life of this very special institution. If you are unable to meet with Maya, please share your insights on the presidential characteristics and experiences via the online Presidential Profile Feedback Form. The information you share with her, either in person or via the feedback form, will be of particular value to her during the recruiting phase of the search process.
When finalist candidates are selected, the Mount Mary community will have the opportunity to meet with each of the finalist candidates, and everyone is strongly encouraged to do so. An online Finalist Candidate Feedback Form will be available to all individuals who have met with the finalist candidates to ensure that we gather feedback on the finalist candidates. Feedback from the Mount Mary community will be shared with the Search Committee as they deliberate on the strengths and concerns of each of the finalist candidates.
