Mount Mary's Undergraduate Education Programs

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has endorsed the education programs at Mount Mary College as “rock solid.” The College offers state approved programs in the following areas of teacher certification:

Mount Mary offers two elementary certification programs:
Early Childhood through Middle Childhood: Teachers licensed in this area generally work with children from birth to age 11 (typically four-year-old kindergarten (Pre-K) to approximately Grade 6), a minor is optional.
Middle Childhood through Early Adolescence: This certification allows a teacher to work with students within a wide range of age levels from age 6 to approximately age 13 (typically 1st through 8th grade). Students pursuing this license are required to choose a minor from: English, Mathematics, Spanish, Bilingual Spanish, Science, Social Studies.
If you want to teach in a subject area (i.e. Math, English, etc.):
Early Adolescence through Adolescence: Coursework and experiences in this area prepare teachers for work with students age 10 to 21 (typically in middle schools and high schools) in a specific subject area. Students pursuing this license select a major from among a variety of subject areas. These students may also declare a minor in a subject area.
Early Childhood through Adolescence: Certification in Art, or Spanish. Provides a license for birth through age 21 (typically grades PreK-12).

The results of the Fall 2009 Salary Survey report done by the National Association of Colleges and Employers suggest that college graduates of the class of 2009 are likely to find jobs in a few key areas, among them--teaching.
