Teacher Education Center

The Teacher Education Center is an aid to current and future teachers.

In 1997, the Milwaukee Archdiocese moved their K-12 Resource Center from the Cousins Center to Mount Mary. Textbooks and accompanying curricular materials, including religious education materials, are housed on the Fitzpatrick Level of the Haggerty Library, sharing space with the Teacher Education Center (TEC). All materials are under the watchful eye of Sister Jean Raymond McBride, SSND, Center Director, and her staff.

Combining the two centers was helpful for several reasons:

  • the TEC acquired more materials from more publishers, with regular updating;
  • the TEC was able to expand the number of curricular areas for which it has materials; and
  • local teachers and Mount Mary education students are able to access both centers at more convenient times and in one place.

Publishers donate samples of their new materials to the Center each year so that teachers can review them and make selections for their programs. The shelves are bright with the latest in reading, social studies, math, and religion texts, workbooks, and other materials. As each set of new materials is delivered to the Center, the previous year's materials are
boxed and shipped to the Archdiocese of Gallup, New Mexico.

The Center is currently staffed from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. For more information, call Sister Jean Raymond at (414) 258-4810, ext. 372.
