Mount Mary College Receives Grants (Feb. 24) – The Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) selected Mount Mary from nearly 80 applications to participate in the 2010 Information Fluency in the Disciplines workshop in literature, to be held in New Orleans, March 4 - 6. The grant will allow four Mount Mary faculty members to attend the program including Dr. Wendie McCredie, Acting Provost, Paula Reiter, Chairperson of Undergraduate English Chairperson, Mary Ellen Kohn-Buday, Chairperson of World Languages, and Julie Kamikawa, Acting Head Librarian.

Mount Mary will host a benefit for Haiti (March 11)- Mount Mary will host a benefit for Haiti reconstruction efforts, Monday, March 29, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Alumnae Dining Room. The event features a lecture on Haitian culture by Dr. Patrick Bellegarde-Smith, UW-Milwaukee, an original composition by Dr. Abraham Caceres, Mount Mary College performanced by the Mount Mary Gospel Choir and drummers from the Ko-Thi Dance Company, fair trade market and a traditional Haitian meal. Mount Mary College Receives Credential from National Board of Certified Counselors (Feb 12) - Mount Mary College’s Master in Science in Counseling program has received the National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential from the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). The credential allows Mount Mary counseling students to take the National Counseling Exam (NCE) prior to graduation.

Students Win Awards (Feb 10) - Frances Czapski and Elaina Meier, staff members of the Mount Mary College “Arches” publication, have received awards from the “Better Newspaper Contest,” sponsored by the Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation. Photos at right.

Mount Mary College Opens Faculty Art Exhibit (Feb 15) - Mount Mary College presents “Art and Design Faculty Exhibition 2010,” a show featuring work by art and design faculty, February 21 – March 10, 2010 in the Marian Art Gallery. An artists’ reception will take place Sunday, February 21, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Gallery located on the first floor of Caroline Hall on the College campus. Award Received (Feb 2) - Mount Mary College’s “College in the Community” has been awarded the 2009 Program Innovation Award from ProLiteracy America, the nation’s largest adult literacy organization. The award recognizes new and innovative strategies that are improving the quality of literacy services offered to adult learners.

Administration News (Jan 13) - Donna Gastevich has been appointed Vice President for External Relations at Mount Mary College. She will oversee development, alumnae relations, marketing/public relations and the Women’s Leadership Institute for the College. Photo at right.

Board of Trustees Appointments (Jan 13) - President Eileen Schwalbach welcomes two new members to the Mount Mary College Board of Trustees.Gary Jorgensen and Marie O'Brien will serve three-year terms. Photos at right.
