President's Message

November, 2008

I am honored and humbled to be serving Mount Mary College as the Acting President. Our fall semester is nearing completion, and we have wonderful news to share.

Mount Mary continues to be responsive to occupational projections, developing programs that have resulted in a 50% increase in our graduate enrollment and an impressive 9% increase in fulltime undergraduate enrollment. The total enrollment of 1,873 students is the largest in Mount Mary’s history.

New majors in radiologic technology and diagnostic medical sonography have expanded the opportunities within our health and science division, and the graduate program in counseling has been extended beyond community counseling to include tracks in pastoral and school counseling.

We are also pleased that the Midtown Program reached its enrollment goal of 50 students this fall, allowing Mount Mary to serve academically qualified students in an innovative way, ensuring the retention and success of young women who otherwise could not afford a college education.

We are very excited about our growth in enrollment; however, these are times of financial uncertainty for many of our students. We have put an assistance plan in place to help students explore their options and remain in school.

We helped the School Sisters of Notre Dame, our sponsoring order, celebrate the 175th anniversary of their founding this October. Our work continues to be deeply rooted in the mission and vision of the college as we transform the lives of students so that they can go out and transform the world.

Gratefully yours,

schwalbach
