Mount Mary's Pre-college Program is an interactive and fun way for Milwaukee area high schools students to explore a women's college and gain skills necessary for success after graduation. Open to young women completing their junior year in high school, the Pre-college program offers two sessions: Summer and School-year.
- ACT preparation (including ACT sample test practice, test-taking skills)
- College success strategies (such as time management, note-taking skills)
- Career exploration (including Myers-Briggs and Discover)
- Discussions with female leaders in the Milwaukee community
- Tours and sessions on the main campus of Mount Mary College
- Field trips within the Milwaukee community
The Summer Pre-college Program is open to young women who have completed grades 9 through 11 in high school. Class size is limited to fifty (with forty reserved for students who have completed the junior year of high school.)
- Information sessions about the Midtown Scholarship Program and the college enrollment process
- Financial aid workshops to learn about the costs of tuition, room and board, textbooks, scholarships and payment options
- Sessions on test-taking skills to help prepare students for the ACT exam
- Workshops focused on providing pre-college students with strategies for success such as time management, note-taking skills and career exploration
- Activities to help understand the culture of college, including professors' expectations and students' responsibilities
- Activities to help instill and/or enhance students' cultural identities and leadership skills
Students participating in the Pre-college Program have first priority for enrollment at Mount Mary and participation in the Midtown Scholarship Program. (Other admission and financial qualifications apply.)
