"To be honest I initially added the Philosophy major because I thought it was interesting and to maintain a full-time student status while I completed the Occupational Therapy program. However, not long into the program I realized Philosophy had become very important to me and it helped me balance my college experience. Instead of being asked to memorize muscles, nerves and treatment techniques, I was asked to really think about very important things such as true knowledge and the good. I began to look at things differently and enjoyed the thought-provoking classes. As I have now been in the work force I feel that philosophy has helped me work with others by understanding differences in knowledge and opinion, especially in identifying my own and learning to accept others' differences." - Melissa (Wester) Haas, Class of 1999 |
