Philosophy Club

The Philosophy Club is open to all members of the College community. It’s an outlet for those who crave to know more about themselves and the world around them. The Philosophy Club hosts philosophicals throughout the school year. Events include lectures, panel discussions, movies, field trips, parties and conferences. Every fall we hold a philosophy awareness day to promote philosophical thinking on campus. Every winter we hold a philosophical valentine sale, which has gained media attention over the past few years. And in the spring, we hold a philosophy for children workshop for area grade school children. If you would like to give a paper or lead a discussion or participate in any way, please contact Jennifer Hockenbery, faculty advisor.

"Studying philosophy opened me up on many levels. My ideas and beliefs were, and still are, pushed, stretched, and fragmented with each new theory. Philosophy allows me to express my opinions and ethics in a way I hadn't known was possible before. This is what makes philosophy invaluable to me. On a practical side, I have led workshops on women in philosophy, and plan to create curriculum on The Philosophy of Aging, when I complete my master's this spring. I have the ability to articulate my thoughts and ideas in a way that allows me to feel comfortable in all academic and business circles. I am able to network on a playing field of which I had been a spectator only." - Amy Dedow, Class of 1996
