Post-professional Master of Science in Occupational Therapy for Practicing Occupational Therapists

For occupational therapists who want to earn a post-professional master's degree.

“The post-professional occupational therapy program is for practicing OTRs. No new students will be admitted to this program during the 2013-14 school year. The OT department is reviewing options for post-professional education including a post-professional master’s that would be linked to a professional doctorate.

If you have any questions regarding the program, please contact Dr. Jane Olson at olsonj@mtmary.edu or 414-258-4810, ext. 348. If you are interested in becoming an occupational therapist, please visit the professional entry program page at http://www.mtmary.edu/ot_mastersofsciences.htm

The post-professional master's program serves as the basis for higher levels of inquiry and thinking about occupational therapy, health care systems and the development of new areas of practice. As a student, you learn to initiate and direct your own professional growth to further the development of occupational therapy.

Mount Mary understands that occupational therapists lead busy lives and has structured a program to fit into your life. All classes are completed via the Internet. In an interactive format, you participate in live chats, threaded discussions, and write papers related to topics of your professional interests. We encourage sharing of professional experiences and reflection on current practice trends to promote your professional growth. Toward the end of the program, you will complete a master's thesis on a practice-related topic of your interest.

Students complete eight graduate courses and two independent studies (30 credits) using the Internet and one on-campus residency experience when the final culminating project is presented. The program is open to both men and women who hold a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy and are practicing occupational therapists.
