Master of Science in Occupational Therapy Program

MS in Occupational Therapy students complete a two year program of on-campus coursework with a focus on individual treatment and then participate in a faculty arranged fieldwork experience for six months, putting textbook knowledge into practice. Concurrent with fieldwork students use the Internet for distance learning to complete one year of continued graduate coursework that focuses on the student's preferred practice area.

Master's Degree Curriculum: The curriculum design is organized around a developmental, education philosophy with core expectations identified at each level.

In the third year the student is learning and applying theories of practice to a broad spectrum of clients with disabilities. Emphasis is placed on evaluating and planning treatment for individuals, and developing a therapeutic style.

In the fourth year the student focuses on synthesis of multiple factors in delivering care. The emphasis is on addressing complex problems and developing professional competence and a personal practice style.

In the fifth year, students analyze treatment efficacy and apply occupational-based theory to preferred practice settings. Emphasis is placed on enhancing evidence-based practice, leadership and responsibility to the profession and its clients.
