Clinical Experience Clinical experiences may includes rotations in obstetrics, pediatrics, intensive care, emergency, burns, telemetry, orthopedics, public health and a wide variety of other opportunities. Affiliations with Columbia St. Mary's, Mount Mary College and more than 50 community clinical sites ensure that our students will receive the benefits of the latest advances in nursing education, while remaining on the cutting edge of today's changing health care environment. Nursing students are guaranteed placement in a variety of clinical settings such as community health agencies, clinics, schools, acute-care hospitals, long-term care facilities and others. Columbia St. Mary's, sponsored by Ascension Health and Columbia Health Systems, is an organization comprised of four hospitals, 62 community clinics, a college of nursing, a partnership with the Orthopaedic Hospital of Wisconsin, and four Urgent Care Centers. Columbia St. Mary's joined together to care for individuals and families throughout Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington and Sheboygan counties – with more than 160 years of service to individuals and families in these communities. The dedicated staff offers the latest technology and innovative treatments within a nurturing environment of support and compassion for patients and their families. Their passion is what makes this a special place in which to receive care. Columbia College of Nursing sponsors El Centro de Salud in partnership
with the United Community Center,
a leading organization for serving Hispanic people in Milwaukee. El Centro
is a nursing center that is managed by Columbia College of Nursing faculty
and provides services through a nurse practitioner and nursing students.
El Centro provides immunizations, physicals, health education, health
promotion, screening and support to students of United Community Center
preschool, elementary and middle schools as well as to adults in family
programs and older adult services.
