Fashion support: Industry recognition for outstanding design

Local businesses and notable members of the fashion industry recognized a number of student fashion designs at Transcend, the CREO 2017 student fashion show.

CREO is taken from the Latin word for “to make, create or produce.” The show was held at Turner Hall in downtown Milwaukee.

The support of Milwaukee’s fashion and retail community take the form of event sponsorship and achievement awards from community and industry supporters:

“Mount Mary’s fashion program, through its visionary faculty, has fostered and encouraged amazing design talent over the last 50 years,” said corporate fashion consultant Florida Perry Smith, who choreographed the show and has worked with the student fashion show for three decades. “Their talent is the foundation of our growing creative economy and I’m proud to recognize and support them.”

This year’s premier sponsors include the Brady Corp, Fashion Angels, Rhody & Carolyn Megal and Harley-Davidson Motor Company. Other sponsors include BMO Harris, Enterforce, KS Energy Services, Meijer and Piper Electric-PPC Foundation.

This live fashion production is organized and executed by merchandise management students who spend a semester planning every detail of the event. The show, themed “Transcend,” features over 80 garments from senior, junior and sophomore students in fashion design.
