Golf program off to a successful start

A new golf program is off to a successful start this fall, and Head Coach and Director of Athletics Marc Heidorf is excited to develop the mechanical skills and mental strength he wants Mount Mary athletes to develop on and off the green.

Heidorf’s vision for the team and program is simple: compete and grow, and his approach has had an immediate impact. The Blue Angels finished the fall season with three first-place finishes in six events.

“Golf is a great sport and there are many applications to the business, philanthropic, and fitness worlds,” he said.

This fall, seven athletes joined the team, and they improved the team scores during each of six meets. Another notable achievement is freshman Taylor Yordt’s average of 120 per round this season.

Additionally, Heidorf strives as director of Athletics to get all of the teams to be competitive and grow.

“I really enjoy the mental battle of the game: players’ abilities to shake off a bad shot or endure five hours of walking 18 holes and still finish strong,” Heidorf said.
