Orff Schulwerk Teacher Training Program, Levels I and II

Since 1984. The music department has offered a music training program in Orff -Schulwerk for the music specialist, music therapist, classroom teacher, church musician, and independent music teacher. Overall content follows the guidelines of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association (AOSA) for Teacher Training Courses.

The workshop provides for greater understanding of the Orff-Schulwerk concepts and teaching process, and for opportunities for music specialists and classroom teachers to learn from outstanding teachers, share ideas, discuss common interests, and continue to develop their music teaching skills and techniques.

Course content is provided through one workshop, a minimum of four hours each, offered each semester through the Greater Milwaukee Orff Dimensions Chapter of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association.

General Music Practicum (Orff-Schulwerk Workshop)

  • MUS 497 (1/2 undergraduate credit)
  • MUS 597 (1/2 graduate credit)

Requirements

  1. The following fee to be paid to the Greater Milwaukee Orff Dimensions Chapter:
    • Annual membership dues and workshop fees: $90
      (Early Bird Special postmarked by September 1, 2012: $80)
  2. The following fees to be paid to Mount Mary College:
    • Mount Mary College processing fee: $10 per semester
    • Credit: Graduate credit tuition: $65 per ½ credit; Undergraduate credit tuition: $55 per ½ credit
  3. Attendance and participation in Fall or Spring Semester workshop (one day, four-hour workshop), and following the workshop, submission of a professional-level paper of sufficient length to adequately demonstrate knowledge of the information acquired; refinement/development of skills; ability to apply those skills in a classroom/lesson situation.

Evaluation
Papers will be evaluated by an Orff Levels Certified member of the Greater Milwaukee Orff Chapter and the AOSA.

Registration
Tuition must be paid online. Tuition discounts are not applicable to this course.
