Ensembles
The Music Department offers various music ensembles
that perform for campus and community events. Opportunities to perform
in vocal and instrumental ensembles or as a soloist are open to all Mount
Mary students, faculty, administrators, and staff, as well as to community members for credit or non-credit.
Vocal Ensembles:
Caroline Choir
- This all-women's chorus sings classical, pops, and rock pieces
- Performances are scheduled throughout the year
- No audition or experience necessary
- Rehearsals are held on Thursdays from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Madrigal Singers Chamber Choir
- The Madrigal Singers perform a vast repertoire including madrigals, classical, musicals, folk, etc. The Madrigal Singers focus on vocal technique, which gives them the freedom to approach a large variety of choral styles (harmonic, polyphonic, unison, a Capella or with accompaniment) from many periods of music history.
- Open to men and women.
- Open to students (for credit or audit) and community members.
- An audition consisting of vocal range, musical hearing, and rhythm is required. Sight reading preferred. The main skills required include a good voice, musical hearing and rhythm.
- Two annual performances - spring and winter concerts.
- Participation can be counted towards two college credits (MUS 350). View the Course Search feature on My Mount Mary to register for this choir group as a class.
- Rehearsals are held on Mondays at 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Notre Dame Hall Room 132

Gospel Choir
- This group joins voices in a chorus that exemplifies a truly American tradition
- Open to women
- No audition is required
- Rehearsals are held on Thursdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Children's Chorus

Instrumental Ensembles:
String/Wind Ensemble
- This musical group has a long tradition at Mount Mary College and has a repertoire that is diverse by not extremely difficult - baroque, classic, romantic, and modern works.
- Members include Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, and Bassoon.
- The String/Wind Ensemble is open to students (for credit or audit) and community members.
- An audition consisting of playing in at least three positions with good intonation and rhythm is required.
- Now accepting violin, viola, cello or bass players
- Participation can be counted towards one college credit (MUS 208). View the Course Search feature on My Mount Mary to register for this class.
- Two annual performances - spring and winter concerts - with various other performances scheduled throughout the year.
- Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. in Notre Dame Hall Room 132
