Haggerty Library & Learning Commons Policies
ID Cards
A valid Mount Mary College ID Card (or a valid ID card from a SWITCH consortium library) must be presented at each "check-out" transaction. No exceptions. Library privileges are not transferable.
Loan Duration and Renewal
Loans for library items vary by item. In general items are loaned for 28 days, with shorter loans at the end of terms. AV items are loaned for 7 days; items from other SWITCH Libraries (DVDs, VHS videos, CDs) may have shorter loan periods. Bound Periodicals have a 1-day checkout.
Circulating material (except Reserve items) may be renewed if there is no "Hold" on the item. Renewals may be done at http://topcat.switchinc.org/patroninfo, by phone at 414-256-0190, or in person at the Circulation Desk, 2nd floor.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) materials are sometimes eligible for renewal. Email the ILL Librarian at mmc-edoc@mtmary.edu or parkerr@mtmary.edu.
Reserve items check out for 2-hours, 1-day, 3-day and 7-day loan periods. Two-hour reserve Items are for "In-Library Use" only.
Overdue Charges
Patrons are responsible for items checked out in their name, payment of overdue charges and replacement fees of lost items as noted in the Mount Mary College Bulletin.
"A student who is delinquent in tuition / fee payments (including parking fees and Library fines) is not entitled to grades, credits, transcripts or participation in graduation exercises." (Mount Mary College Bulletin, 2008-2010, p. 23)
Overdue notices are sent to a patron's email address or home address. Failure to receive a notice does not alter a patron's responsibility to return items nor exempt a patron from overdue penalties.
- Books: $50.00 replacement fee
- AV items and Bound Periodicals: $1.00 per day per item.
Fines are not collected until the 4th day. After the 4th day, a $65.00 replacement fee AND a non-refundable $10.00 processing fee are charged. Replacement fees are waived if items are returned.
Environment and Quiet Zone
Haggerty Library and Learning Commons is a place for study and collaboration. The Commons may be somewhat noisy, however, a quiet study space can be found on the 2nd floor.
Please be considerate of others and keep conversation to a minimum. Set phones to vibrate or to silence while in the Library. Leave the Library if you receive a cell phone call; when you leave the Library to make or take a call, take your belongings with you. Haggerty Library is not responsible for the loss of personal items.
No drinks without lids or tobacco products are allowed in the Library.
Hours
Library hours are posted at the Library entrance, at campus bulletin boards and on the Library web page at http://www.mtmary.edu/ha.htm
