The Mount Mary College Leadership Initiative, with its emphasis on preparing women to take responsibility for social justice, includes four major components:

• The Women's Leadership Institute: the link between the college and the community with the purpose of advancing the leadership of women throughout the Milwaukee area (Check out our events.)
• Leadership for Social Justice Seminar: a seminar for first-year students
• The Caroline Scholars: selected students receiving scholarships to continue focusing on leadership and social justice issues

Taking responsibility for social justice encompasses the charism of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, the founding vision and mission of Mount Mary College, and the characteristics and skills most needed in leaders of the twenty-first century.

Many women's colleges have leadership programs but the Mount Mary Leadership Model differs from others in that it stresses that leadership skills are integral to full human development and that leadership must serve the needs of the human community. Every Mount Mary student is seen as a potential leader.
