International Studies

A major in international studies prepares students to participate as citizens and professionals in the global community of the 21st century. Grounded in the study of world language and the social sciences, Mount Mary's international studies program explores cultural, political, philosophical, and economic aspects of our interdependent world. In addition to classroom experience, Mount Mary's program offers a study abroad component, so students may benefit from the unique perspective of living in another culture.

The international studies major is a double major in one. It includes the equivalent of the Mount Mary College major in French or Spanish (or a certificate in English as a second language for international students), along with some fifty credits in the areas of business and economics, history, political science, and other social sciences.

Mount Mary offers a special study area for students studying international studies or world languages. The Fourier Language Lab, which is housed in the Haggerty Library, is equipped with CD players, a Pentium computer with CD-ROM capabilities, and an extensive audio library to support language study.
