Flu Updates Please visit this page often for updates regarding the H1N1 Flu as it relates to Mount Mary College. What is H1N1 (swine) Flu? H1N1 (referred to as “swine flu” early on) is a new influenza virus causing illness in people. This new virus was first detected in people in the United States in April 2009. Other countries, including Mexico and Canada, have reported people sick with this new virus. This virus is spreading from person-to-person, probably in much the same way that regular seasonal influenza viruses spread. Resources Select Walgreens pharmacies will provide Influenza A (H1N1) vaccinations for $18. Walgreens Take Care Clinics will vaccinate individuals 2 years of age and up. Other locations require individuals to be at least 18 years of age. Visit the Walgreens website or call (800)-Walgreens for more information and to find locations. The federal government H1N1 information site (www.flu.gov) has initiated a “H1N1 Flu Self-Evaluation” tool for individuals 18 years of age or older that is intended to assist individuals in determining if they have influenza and whether they need to seek further medical attention.
