Graduate Assistantships Graduate assistantships are opportunities for graduate students to work on campus to earn a stipend to help pay for their education. The following are graduate assistantship positions available on campus. Follow the instructions in each listing to apply for positions. Art Therapy Graduate Assistantship Position Description: The Art Therapy Graduate Assistantship position is located in the Mount Mary Art Therapy Department and supervised by the art therapy program director. In return for a minimum of 120 hours of work during each semester the graduate assistant will receive tuition remission for 3 graduate credits per semester. Hours will be determined by mutual agreement between the art therapy program director and the graduate assistant, and will accommodate the graduate assistant’s academic schedule as well as the needs of the Art Therapy Department and studio. Starting dates begin at the start of the fall semester. Job description is subject to change. Responsibilities: The work will include assisting, organizing and maintaining the Art Therapy studio, supply inventory and ordering, and assisting the Art Therapy Department with special projects. Eligibility/Requirements: This position is designed for art therapy graduate students only. Office for Graduate Education Graduate Assistantships Position Description: The Graduate Assistantship positions will be located in and report to the Mount Mary Office for Graduate Education in Notre Dame Hall. The Office for Graduate Education assists graduate students through the admission process. This opportunity is a daytime position geared toward the clerical and customer service aspects of the graduate admission process. Graduate assistants will work 120 hours during each semester (not including summer), and in return will receive tuition remission for 3 graduate credits per semester. Hours will be determined by mutual agreement and accommodate the graduate assistant’s academic schedule, as well as the needs of the Office for Graduate Education to be open from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Starting dates will be determined by the Office of Graduate Education, but will begin no later than the second week in August. Job description is subject to change. Responsibilities: Assist Graduate Admission Counselors with follow up calls and e-mails to inquiring and applied students; help organize and plan Information Sessions and Open Houses; speak to students about their respective program of interest; give informative tours, as needed; assist with marketing assignments and help the counselors with other various assignments as designated by the Graduate Admission Counselors. Assist the Associate Dean of Graduate Education with student surveys; complete database entry projects as well as assist departments with special projects; help with market research being undertaken by the office; help organize and plan New Student Orientations; help with other duties/tasks assigned by the Office for Graduate Education staff. Eligibility/Requirements: Applicants must be accepted Mount Mary College graduate students. Graduate assistants need to have strong organizational and human service skills, problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, be detail-oriented and possess a high level of confidentiality (FERPA Training will be provided). Applicants should have knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Applicants are expected to learn additional computer software programs, such as Jenzabar, SPSS and Microsoft Access. Knowledge of or able to learn about Mount Mary College’s academic programs, administrative office functions and campus layout. Assistants should be flexible to focus on specialized office tasks as the need arises.
