Student Designer Fashion Show Visit us on Facebook!

Infinite possibilities and limitless destinations capture the essence of the 2011 Student Designer Fashion Show, "En Route." Mount Mary College presented its first off-campus fashion show on Friday, May 13. The three performances took place in the Bradley Pavilion at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Milwaukee. M Magazine's fashion editor Jordan Dechambre acted as emcee for the event and announced the M Magazine Readers' Choice Award.

The History of the Event

The first fashion show was in the Marian Gallery on the fourth floor of Notre Dame Hall in the spring of 1967. The intimate show was planned for the press who had come from around the country to the Heritage Milwaukee Manufacturer's Association for a Wisconsin Fashion Week.  Since the fashion program was only two years old, it consisted of five garments and the muslin patterns from which those garments were developed. New York designer Ron Amey, who had worked with the students as a consultant/critic for two years presented the designs which were shown on professional models.  This year's show will have a somewhat new format. Junior and Senior designers will present their body of work as a collection enhanced by close up images of their sketches and/or design details and a statement of their design philosophy.
