Competitions, Awards and Scholarships

Student Recognition: Each year recognition is given for outstanding designs in a variety of categories in conjunction with the annual student designer fashion show. Cash and product awards sponsored by various manufacturers and retailers are determined by a professional jury, which qualifies garments for the show.

Mount Mary students tend to do very well in regional, national, and international competitions. They have brought home an impressive array of awards and have been featured in a variety of professional publications. Recent winners include:

Katherine Stevens' award
winning design - an elegant
blouse with very full sleeves.

ITAA: October 31 through November 4, 2006, International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA) design exhibition in San Antonio, Texas. Designs of five of the seven Mount Mary students who entered were accepted. Chicago Fashion Group: On Friday, November 10, 2006, Mount Mary faculty and students attended the Chicago Fashion Group Career Day and Competition. In June a professional jury chose five Mount Mary student designers as finalists for this rigorous design competition.
