Profile -
As chair of the Justice Department, I get to work with some of the most passionate women entering the field of justice-related work, and I can help open doors for them to create a new legal landscape in the global era. I am an active mentor through the Wisconsin State Bar to young lawyers, and that helps me to be a better pre-law advisor to Mount Mary's students. Their feedback guides me in choosing the best ways to provide skills, substance, and experience to the Justice majors.
My professional background is in trusts, estates, elder law and tax, and it is an active area of scholarship and practice for me. I study how dispute resolution can be a tool for families to resolve the conflicts of aging; a field known as Elder Mediation. I am blessed to pass on what I learn from working with the elderly and their families to the generations that follow, and to contemplate multigenerational change as America ages.
Professor Monaco-Wilcox recently was interviewed by Linda Albert, director of the Wisconsin State Bar's WisLAP program, speaking about how support and mentoring are essential for young attorneys who may be struggling in the difficult economy.
A video will be released in late Fall of 2011 and used by the State Bar in trainings, presentations, and broadcast to the public, www.wisbar.org |
