Ann Angel, M.F.A.
Assistant Professor of English

In the News: Ann was featured in August 2010 on BrookfieldNow.Com. The article by Nan Bialek was entitled, "Author Spreads Her Wings," and highlighted Ann's new book, "Janis Joplin: Rise Up Singing." Read the article for more information about Ann and her recent publication.

Recent Honor: Accepted as a participant by the prestigious A Room of Her Own (AROHO) Foundation, Ann Angel spent a week in August 2009 at Georgia O’Keefe’s summer residence, Ghost Ranch, in Abiquiu, New Mexico studying under renowned memoirist, Melanie Hall.

The AROHO Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2000 that is dedicated to offering a unique arts program that will impact the development of culture and societal change.  Based on the philosophy of English novelist Virginia Woolf, the Foundation seeks to further Woolf’s vision by “providing moral support and professional guidance to independent creative women who are committed to their art.”

Ann’s commitment to her art is shown by the eleven books that she has had published over the years, with two more scheduled for publication in 2010. A faculty member at Mount Mary since 1988, Angel teaches a wide range of writing courses in both the undergraduate and graduate divisions, including a class on memoirs.

The application process for participation at the retreat was highly completive, attracting close to 800 applicants. Applying for the first time, Ann was selected as one of 65 participants.
