Sigma Tau Delta

Sigma Tau Delta, the international English Honor Society, has had a chapter at Mount Mary College since 1951. The society provides opportunities for scholarly publications in The Rectangle and presentations at an annual conference each spring.  

Requirements for membership include:  

  • English, Literature, English Professional Writing, English Education, or English Broadfield Language Arts major or minor
  • 3.0 grade point average
  • Sophomore standing or above

Members of Sigma Tau Delta are eligible for undergraduate and graduate scholarships. Currently the Mount Mary chapter has 50 members. Potential members are invited to apply every fall semester.

2011 Literature, Creativity and Social Justice Conference -
October 15, Milwaukee

This conference has been cancelled.

This event provides students and teachers the opportunity to explore different avenues. For students, they are able to present or hear panel discussions of student work, participate in "open mic" sessions, and attend a special seminar entitled "The College Application Essay." For teachers, they can participate with their students and attend a special seminar entitled "Starting an NEHS Chapter at Your High School."
