Student Teaching

The Student Teaching experience at Mount Mary College follows the guidelines established by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (WDPI) as stated below:

Each student in the program is required to complete student teaching consisting of full days for a full semester experience following the daily schedule and semester calendar of the cooperating school.  Exceptions may be granted when the midyear calendars of the institution offering the teacher preparatory program and the cooperating school differ from each other and would prevent students from attending classes at the institution in accordance with the institution’s calendar. Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction PI 34 (5) (b). Wisconsin stat. 118.19 (3) (a).

In keeping with the above rule:

1.  During the semester of student teaching, students typically are considered full-time students and generally register for 12 credits.

2.  A one credit Student Teaching Seminar is taken in conjunction with student teaching. Other coursework may not be taken during the semester of student teaching.

3.  Students ordinarily will have at least two student teaching placements within the semester.
