The mission of the Dietetic Internship is to strengthen the academic background of interns and provide quality experiences in a generalist program with a concentration in disease prevention and health promotion. The combination of graduate course work with the experiential component enhances application of concepts and presents a model for lifelong learning to promote professional excellence.
Goals
- To comprehensively train competent, confident, entry-level practitioners
who incorporate disease prevention and health promotion in each professional
practice setting.
- To stimulate interns to continue their professional growth through
graduate education, certification in specialized areas of dietetics
and/or professional activities.
- To meet interns’ individual learning interests and needs through internship
placement sites and graduate course work.
