ConnectED Program
ConnectED is a unique partnership between Mount Mary College and area high schools which offers the opportunity to earn high school and college credit at the same time. Students enrolled in an Advanced Placement (AP) or honors course in high school can earn college credit through Mount Mary College. Classes are taught at the high school by qualified, ConnectED-approved, teachers using college level textbooks and assignments. The ConnectED courses match Mount Mary College courses in scope, sequence and rigor.
ConnectED is available to sophomores, juniors and seniors. While Mount Mary College is a women's college, men may take courses through the ConnectED Program.
Benefits of ConnectED:
- Earn college credit
- Reduced tuition ($100 per credit)
- Enrollment as an official Mount Mary College student includes a student ID granting access to the library, computer labs, fitness center, pool, and functions
- $1000 per year (up to $4000 for four years) ConnectED Scholarship if student enrolls at Mount Mary College full-time after high school graduation
Requirements:
- Attend the ConnectED Orientation (held at the high school)
- Attend an on-campus academic event which could include lectures, discussions, student presentations, demonstrations and experiments, guided research, special events, guest lectures, workshops or seminars. During this event, ConnectED students are required to take a campus tour.
- Complete the evaluation form of the on-campus event

Return completed forms along with the tuition payment to the ConnectED Coordinator c/o the Admission Office at Mount Mary College, 2900 N. Menomonee River Parkway, Milwaukee, WI, 53222.
Information and forms will be distributed by the high school teacher.
Deadline: September 15
By September 15 students must have applied to the program and finalized their course enrollment. No refunds will be offered after this date.
Course Information:
- Course must be a high school ConnectED-approved Advanced Placement (AP) or Honors Course
- An 83% (BC) grade or higher is required for the student to receive Mount Mary College credit
- Students may earn up to 16 credits through ConnectED
- A student may not take more than eight credits per year
- Tuition is $100 per credit, courses range between 2-4 credits. Tuition is due at the time of registration in the form of cash or check.

AP US Politics and Government = POS 213: American Government, 3 credits
Instructor: Patrick Dawson
This course is on the American governmental system, its development, constitution, structure and operation with emphasis on fundamental principles and their application in the institutions and political processes.
Advanced Ceramics = ART 205: Ceramics, 3 credits
Instructor: Marge VonRueden
Exploration and application of ceramic techniques including hand building techniques and wheel throwing, preparation of clay, use of ceramic equipment, mixing of glazes and firing of kilns.
Prerequisite: ART 105 or 111
Honors Anatomy and Physiology = BIO 212, Human Physiology, 4 credits
Instructor: Sue Reidy
This course explores how the function, regulation and integration of the major organ systems of the human body operate to maintain homeostasis and sustain life. The laboratory focuses on acquisition and analysis of physiological data.
Prerequisite: BIO 103
Honors Western Civilization II = HIS 104: Western Civilization II, 3 credits
Instructor: Chris Weiss
The course covers Western civilization from the 16th to the 20th century in terms of cultural, social and political development.
AP Psychology = PSY 103: Introductory Psychology, 4 credits
Instructor: Ruth Regent-Smith
Introduction to basic concepts, theories and applications in the areas of learning, development, perception, cognition, intelligence, personality, psychopathology, motivation, psychotherapy, social psychology, the brain and behavior.
AP World History = HIS 106: World Civilization I, 3 credits
Instructor: Brian Kangas
The course covers the origins of African, Asian, and European civilization and its development through the Middle Ages.
AP Chemistry = CHE 113: Chemical Principals I, 4 credits
Instructor: Louise Meyer
This course includes dimensional analysis, atomic structure, chemical bonding, stoichiometry, physical states of matter, energy relationships, periodic table, atomic and molecular structure and solutions. The laboratory complements the course topics.
Prerequisites: (1) high school chemistry or concurrent enrollment in CHE 112 and (2) MAT 101
AP Biology = BIO 103: Introductory Biology, 4 credits
Instructor: Mike Mroz
This foundational course explores the organization of living things from the molecular level to the level of the biosphere. Topics include biological molecules, cell structure and replication, energy flow, genetics and the ecological relationship of populations. The laboratory emphasizes data collection and analysis using relevant model systems.
Prerequisite: high school biology and math competency
AP Microeconomics = BUS 301: Microeconomics, 4 credits
Instructor: Kristen Peterson
This is a basic course in microeconomics with primary emphasis on how demand, supply, and the price mechanism direct economic activities in a market economy. Topics include consumer behavior, production, market analysis, general resource allocation, income distribution, taxation, government activities, and unions.

AP English and Literature = ENG 223: Survey of British Literature, 4 credits
Instructor: Robert Gerry Staggonberg
This course offers an overview of British literature from Anglo-Saxon to 20th century literature. Students read representative works from each major period to become acquainted with the major writers and the predominant literary and cultural features of that period.
Honors US Government = POS 215: American Government, 2 credits

Transferring of College Credits:
Those students wishing to transfer their ConnectED/Mount Mary College credits to another institution of higher education are welcome to do so. It is the student’s responsibility to request official transcripts from the Registrar’s Office at Mount Mary College. Transcript request information is available online. Transcripts will be available in the middle of June.
Only the college or university accepting transfer credits can determine if the credits are transferable, and if so, course/credit amount they count as. Mount Mary does not guarantee transferability of credits. If a student wants to determine if their credits will transfer to a different institution, it is the student’s responsibility to contact that institution and inquire.
Tips for students seeking out this information when contacting another institution:
- Have the course name and description, course number, and the number of credits. (This information is available in the Mount Mary College Undergraduate Bulletin.)
- Many schools list their transfer credit policies on their websites. If the information is not available online, please contact the school directly. Students should inform the school that they have credits from a course taken with Mount Mary College and want to determine how the credits will transfer.
- Please note ConnectED Mount Mary’s program name so no other colleges will be familiar with the name or program details.
- Be sure to obtain your Mount Mary College transcripts after you've completed the course.
Privacy Rights:
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. Regardless of age, once a student is enrolled in a postsecondary institution, the FERPA rights transfer from the parent to the student. As a participant in ConnectED, students are considered enrolled in a postsecondary institution so their rights are transferred. Since ConnectED students are enrolled in both high school and college, the two schools may exchange information about the student. The rights still remains to the parent regarding high school records and the parent may inspect and review records send by the college to the high school. If a student would like to complete a FERPA waiver form giving their parent rights to access their Mount Mary information, they can contact the ConnectED Coordinator for this form.
