Mount Mary College is proud of our history of educating women leaders. Today we are proud of the following accomplishments by members of the college community -

College Leader Receives Honorary Degree
Former Provincial Leader, Sister Debra Sciano, SSND, received the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws at the December commencement exercises. Sister Sciano was recognized for her distinguished service and leadership.

Mount Mary College Admissions Director Receives National Recognitionimage: Rachel Gonnering
December 6, 2011 -- Rachel Gonnering, Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Mount Mary College, received two awards from the National Communication Association (NCA), President Eileen Schwalbach announced today. Gonnering received "Top Panel Award" and "Top Student Award" for her paper, "Training Student Employees to Effectively Apply Customer Service Principles to their Positions of Employment in Higher Education," which was presented at the NCA's 97th Annual Convention held November 17-20 in New Orleans. She co-authored the paper with Becky Mulane, Student Success Advisor at UW-Sheboygan. Read more.

Mary Staudenmaier Receives Philanthropy Award from Mount Mary Collegeimage: Mary Saudemaier
November 18, 2011 -- Mary Staudenmaier, a long-time volunteer with the Diocese of Green Bay, received Mount Mary College's "Partner in Philanthropy" Award at the Greater Milwaukee Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals' annual National Philanthropy Day luncheon. The event was held at the Frontier Airlines Center in downtown Milwaukee on November 15th. She received a personalized keepsake at the luncheon in honor of the award and is shown at right with her brother Bill Staudenmaier, a retired Milwaukee attorney, at the National Philanthropy Day luncheon. SSND Receives Prestigious Vatican II Awardimage: S. Shawnee Daniels-Sykes
November 8, 2011 -- Congratulations to faculty member Sr. Shawnee Daniels-Sykes for receiving a Vatican II Award for distinguished service to the church and society. Sr. Daniels-Sykes was recognized at a special prayer service and award ceremony at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist on Tuesday, November 8th. Sr. Daniels-Sykes referrred to her expertise in bioethics during her keynote address at a November 5th forum on HIV/AIDS. Read about it in CHN Online.

Hardwick named Student-Athlete of the Monthimage: Stephanie Hardwick, Volleyball
November 10, 2011 -- The Association of Division III Independents named Stephanie Hardwick (left, of West Allis, WI), a volleyball outside hitter, the AD3I Student Athlete for the month of October. Read more about the athlete and the award.

Mount Mary College Professor Honored as "Champion of the Arts"
June 28, 2011 -- Brad Bernard, a Mount Mary College Assistant Professor of Art, was honored as a “Champion of the Arts” at a celebration hosted by the Milwaukee Public Theatre on June 28 at Milwaukee’s Turner Hall. Brad was among three community leaders who were honored for their efforts to bring together people from throughout our community to enjoy the performing and visual arts. Dr. Schwalbach, Among "Women of Influence"
June 10, 2011 -- President Schwalbach was named as one of The Business Journal's 2011 Women of Influence. Recognized in the category of Community Supporter, she accepted the honor at a special ceremony on June 10. Meet the winners.

Ann Angel Earns Multiple Honors
2011 -- English faculty member, Ann Angel, has received honors this past year for her recent publication Janis Joplin: Rise Up Singing. The awards include:

May 6, 2011 -- Dr. Tammy Scheidegger, Graduate Program in Counseling,has been named the new President-elect for the Wisconsin Counseling Association.

Mount Mary College President Named Recipient of
“Women Putting Their Stamp on Milwaukee” Award

January 26, 2011 -- Dr. Eileen Schwalbach, President of Mount Mary College, has beennamed a recipient of the 2011 “Women Putting Their Stamp on Milwaukee” Award from the United States Postal Service (USPS). The 13th annual award recognizes women from the Metro Milwaukee Area with outstanding achievements in several fields.
