Admission Information

From its inception, Mount Mary College has been a women's college. Male students are welcome to enroll in our undergraduate nursing, post-baccalaureate certificate, and graduate programs.

Undergraduate Requirements

The Master of Science in Art Therapy is open to any student with an undergraduate degree in art, art education, or other related field. A grade point average of a least 2.75 is required of all applicants for admission

Open Admission

Mount Mary accepts approximately 25 qualified candidates as applications are submitted. There is no application deadline, however, candidates are advised to complete the application process well in advance of the desired entry date in order to assure acceptance.

Full and Part-Time Study

Full-time students may complete the art therapy program within two academic years. Students may choose to participate in part-time study, however, the program must be completed within seven years from the beginning of course work that meets a program requirement.

Special Student Status

Coursework in the graduate art therapy program is suited for students who are pursuing a profession in art therapy, as well as, mental health, counseling, education and related fields. Outside registrants typically desire art therapy coursework that they can integrate into counseling and teaching practice.

All 500 level courses and some 700 level courses are open to special students such as these. Special students may take a maximum of six credits and a maximum of six credits may be counted toward the degree. Courses cannot be audited.
