Job Outlook for Art Therapy Majors Art therapy is an expanding field. Employment opportunities continue to increase as art therapy becomes more recognized by professionals, work settings, and clients. Art therapy program graduates find employment in both full- and part-time positions. Earnings vary by geographical area and depend on the type of practice and job responsibilities. Those earning Board Certification from the American Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB) have distinct advantages in obtaining employment. A master’s degree must be obtained in order to work as a credentialed art therapist or psychotherapist. Mount Mary College offers the only fully accredited art therapy graduate degree in the state of Wisconsin. The master of science degree in art therapy is approved by the American Art Therapy Association and is targeted to both the working professional and the full-time student. Art therapists with doctoral degrees and state licensure are qualified to conduct private practice.
