Spring Symposium
"POIESIS: Making, Transforming, Healing"

This all-day spring symposium on art therapy was held on April 19, 2013 and featured a keynote presentation by nationally known author and presenter,Stephen K. Levine, Ph.D., D.S.Sc., REAT.

Stephen K. Levine is
adjunct faculty in Expressive Arts Therapy, professor emeritus of York University (Toronto), vice-rector and dean of the Doctoral Program in Expressive Arts at the European Graduate School (Switzerland), and co-director of ISIS-Canada, a three-year training program in expressive arts therapy. His publications include Song the Only Victory: Poetry Against War, Principles and Practice of Expressive Arts Therapy: Toward a Therapeutic Aesthetics (with Paolo J. Knill and Ellen Levine), Poiesis: The Language of Psychology and the Speech of the Soul, and Trauma, Tragedy, Therapy: The Arts and Human Suffering.

The Opening Colloquium

Early in the fall semester all students attend the Opening Colloquium, a weekend of immersion in art making and therapeutic process held in a lodge setting in the hills of Southern Wisconsin. This weekend sets the tone for the academic year and begins the work of developing the art therapy community.
