PROGRAM GOALS FOR THE MILWAUKEE ARCHDIOCESAN SCHOOL SYSTEM

 

The art program is based on four components, AESTHETICS, ART CRITICISM, ART HERITAGE, AND ART PRODUCTION through which students will study art by:

 

PERCEIVING and APPRECIATING:
         to grasp and value the aesthetic dimensions of life
         in the natural environment and that of human
         origin.

JUDGING:
         to acquire the knowledge and vocabulary needed
         to examine and discuss works of art by analyzing,
         interpreting and evaluating them.

KNOWING:
         to recognize, identify, and become familiar with
         artists, art forms, and art styles, past and  pre-
         sent, within their societies and cultures.

MAKING:
         to develop artistic skills which will provide the
         means to express and respond to a wide range of
         human experiences.
