ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ART CURRICULUM PERFORMANCE GOALS

The art program will provide students with opportunities to:

1.     understand the essential characteristics of artistic expression;
2.     develop sensory awareness and perception;
3.     experience satisfaction, accomplishment, and joy in creative
        expression;
4.     appreciate and respect artistic endeavors of others;
5.     recognize and understand the relationship between art and
        the physical world;
6.     develop an understanding and appreciation of the historical
        and cultural aspects of art;
7.     acquire and utilize knowledge for making aesthetic judgments;
8.     use divergent thinking in problem-solving;
9.     engage in activities that develop self-confidence
        and pride in creative visual expression;
10.   demonstrate knowledge and care in the use of materials
        and tools in a safe and proper way
