I. VALUING THE VISUAL ARTS

A. AESTHETICS (PERCEIVING AND APPRECIATING)

  

8A1 discuss the ageless and universal aspects of art : products of human history in all ages.
8A2 realize the motives and ideas that have inspired artistic expressions: craving for beauty, prestige, religious fervor, etc.
8A3 respond to the emotional power of artworks.
8A4 show appreciation for motifs, images, symbols, and/or themes distinguishing the works of particular cultures, traditions, schools, or artists.

D. ART PRODUCTION (MAKING)

 

Students will be able to:

 8M1 use metaphor as an expressive device in drawing and painting.
8M2 use a written description of a drawing to achieve similar qualities in a personal work.
8M3 demonstrate skillfull use of the techniques of stipple, crosshatch, and line in drawing to produce variations in value and texture.
8M4 apply conventional techniques to achieve perspective (one and two-point, overlapping, position/size in composition, color and detail).
8M5 demonstrate color theory by selecting and using color appropriate to content and purpose.
8M6 demonstrate knowledge and ability in printmaking techniques.
8M7 demonstrate knowledge and ability in 3-D construction and finishing.
8M8 manipulate complex equipment correctly and safely.
