Academic Advising

The basis behind advising is to match up a student with a faculty member in the student's academic area of interest. The advisor/advisee partnership continues until graduation. In order to register for courses, students must meet with their advisor.

Prior to meeting with an advisor, students should

  • Have a copy of the class schedule
  • Have a copy of the curriculum sheet for their major
  • Refer to the undergraduate bulletin
  • Complete a student advising worksheet
  • Write a list of completed courses
  • Prepare a list of questions such as applying to department/major or internship/fieldwork requirements

Once the advisors signs off on the advisee's student advising worksheet, student's can register for courses in the Registrar's Office.

The Advising and Career Development Office advises undeclared students and students who recently changed academic programs. If you need help finding your advisor, call (414) 256-1243.
